Hosaina/ Palm Sunday
One of the most colourful celebrations is Hosaina, on Palm Sunday that celebrates the entrance of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem. Lots of people come from the surrounding regions to join the 2 days celebration in Axum, where colorful processions and chanted masses are taking place.
It usually falls between late March and April, and often it matches with the European Easter.
Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive at Addis Ababa. After check in City Tour of Addis Ababa

Day 2፡ Flight to Aksum
After check in to your hotel drive to the interesting colorful baskets Market that burst to life on Saturday; Besides you can find some good handmade Nice Ethiopian artifacts, White honey is also famous in Ethiopia for health reasons which you can find here in abundance.
This one takes place under the massive fig tree shading the heart of the piazza. It’s absolutely huge at festival time when visiting Ethiopians stock up on high-quality Tigrayan workmanship. In the afternoon you will start experiencing the eve of Palm Sunday.

Day 3
Morning palm Sunday festival and after lunch break you explore Axum including the visit to Abba Pentalewon monastery. one of the Nine Saints and a man who is said to have prayed nonstop for 40 years, and that this is where King Kaleb retired after abdicating his throne. The views, the monastery itself and the treasures are all worth the climb, Overnight: Axum
Day 4
Drive to Hawzien through the Adwa Mountains, the 5th century B.C. temple at Yeha and the monastery of Debre Damo.

Day 5
Visit some of the rock-hewn churches of Tigray and drive to Mekele overnight in your hotel.
Day 6
Full day scenic drive to Lalibela. Overnight hotel.
Day 7
Visit the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela. Overnight hotel.
Day 8
Flight back to Addis Ababa and transfer to your hotel. Evening departure back home.
