Day 1: Drive to Hawassa

In the morning leave Addis Ababa and commence driving south towards Hawassas lovely town situated at the shore of Lake Hawassa the smallest and the shallowest rift valley lakevia Ziway Butajira road which provides access to a string of fascinating and very different archaeological and historical sites as well as the scenic farmlands of Guragea and Oromo people. The main points of interest and shall we stop along this way is the archaeological sites of Melka Kunture and the stelae field of Tiya.

Melka Kunture: Located along the Awash River and considered one of the most important Paleolithic sites in Ethiopia and also best known for the numerous Stone Age tools aging 1.7 million years, remains of Homo Erectus 600,000 years old, which the earliest humans left behind and fossilized bones of Hippo, Rhino, Elephant and different antelopes have been unearthed.  

Tiya Steale: Where we can see 36 prehistoric the northernmost example of a peculiar type of engraved, standing stone monoliths or stelaes that stretch across parts of southern Ethiopia, 80km from the capital. 30 of them are decorated with carving, and this historically significant place dates back to 12th to 15th century AD and registered as a world site by UNESCO.

After lunch break at the town of Butajira resume driving to Hawassa with a stop at the town of Shashemen just to meet the Jamaican also known as Ras Teferian people and also to see the lovely Banana art gallery; then continue driving Hawassa for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Stay in Hawassa

After breakfast in the hotel you will have time to make boat trip on lake Hawassa and visit numerous water birds and Hippopotamus then drive back to the hotel and spend the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 3: Drive to Lake Langano

After breakfast in the hotel commence you will visit the Hawassa daily traditional fish market, different forest and water birds as well as Vervet and Colobus Monkeys then resume driving to Lake Langano with a lunch stop at Shashemene.

Day 4: Excursion to Abiyata Shalla National Park

After breakfast in the hotel you will will visit Abiyata Shalla National Park situated in the heart of the Rift Valley which together form 50 percent of the 880sq km conservation area. Then back to Lake Langano Bilharzia free Rift Valley and safe for swimming.

Day 5: Stay in Langano

Today will have free time to enjoy swimming in this lovely rift valley lake.

Day 6: Back to Addis Abeba

Today we drive back to Addis Ababa through the marvelous Great Rift Valley region. Lunch can be served en route then resume driving back to the capital city admiring different types of landscapes and in the afternoon you will arrive in Addis Ababa be transferred to the place where you are staying.
