Saint Mary of Zion Axum Christian Pilgrimage Tours – 12 Days
Day 1: Arrive in Addis Ababa. City Tour. Overnight – hotel
Day 2: Fly to Bahir Dar for Blue Nile Falls & Monasteries on Lake Tana. Overnight – hotel
Day 3: drive to Gondar to visit Castles. Overnight – hotel
Day 4: Excursion to the Simien Mountains. Overnight – Lodge/Camping
Day 5: Scenic drive to Axum. In the evening we will attend the festival Eve ceremony with the pilgrims to be held at St Mary Church. Overnight: Hotel
Day 6: St Mary Zion annual festival, in the morning, we will once more drive back to St Mary where the biggest festival will be held outside the church
Day 7: Fly to Lalibela and visit Churches of Lalibela. Overnight – hotel
Day 8: Full day in Lalibela. Overnight – hotel
Day 9: Fly back to Addis + departure Home
We can integrate the festival with visits to other places on the Historic Route, to the rock hewn churches of Gheralta, Danakil Depression, and/or other parts of the country, the Omo valley, bird watching, trekking and other activities.
